The CDOT right-of-way west of US Highway 550 north of Durango is wide enough to accommodate an 8-foot-wide paved trail AND future expansion of lanes into Durango
Plan it
BEFORE anything can happen, the idea of a commuter trail has to be added to the SW TPR 2045 Long Range Transportation Plan.
Grow it
Step one in development is to get a pedestrian bridge built over Hermosa Creek. The existing highway bridge has no shoulders and is extremely unsafe to ride or walk across
Present the idea to Region 9 and CDOT
Please send us an email supporting the idea of a trail, so we can show community support to the Southwest Transportation Planning Region on behalf of the Southwest Council of Governments.
Build it
Once on the list of Masterplan projects it can then move up in importance until funds are available for construction
